Whether you’re coming from near or far, this page has all the details to help you plan your journey to Lake Como

Car

Driving is a great option if you want the freedom to explore Lake Como at your own pace. You can park at one of car parks in Como or at your accommodation (guests staying at Hotel Bellavista can park for free in front of the hotel).

Given how narrow and winding roads at the lake can be, we do not recommend coming with large cars. The Italian stereotype holds true in this case and the smaller the car, the smoother your driving experience will be.

Please note that the drive to the mountain town of Brunate is a challenge even for experienced drivers. Read further by clicking the 'Learn more' link.

Plane

The closest major airports are Milan Malpensa (MXP), Milan Linate Airport (LIN) and Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport (BGY), about 60-90 minutes from Lake Como by car. From the airport, you can rent a car, take a private transfer, or use public transport to reach Como.

All three airports have bus and/or train connections to Milan Centrale station where you can board the train to the city of Como.

Please keep read the 'Car' section information if you are considering renting a car. Large cars are not recommended for the narrow roads of Lake Como.

Public Transport and Uber

Train: The easiest way to reach Como from Milan is by train, with frequent departures from Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni (30–40 min).

Bus: Local buses run along the lake, connecting towns like Bellagio, Menaggio, and Tremezzo—perfect for exploring on a budget.

Ferry: A scenic way to travel, ferries operate between major lakeside towns, offering breathtaking views of the water and mountains.

Uber: Unreliable; taxis or pre-booked private transfers are the only option.

Please keep in mind that the reception will be held in Brunate (a mountain town above Como), which is only accessible by a funicolar and car.
